Additives
Additives are auxiliary substances added in small amounts to plastic raw materials to enhance processability, extend product life, or impart specific physical, chemical, or visual properties. These include UV stabilizers (for resistance to sunlight), antioxidants (for protection against heat and oxidation), flame retardants, impact modifiers, fillers (such as talc or glass fiber), slip agents, anti-shrinkage agents, and antistatic agents.
Some additives facilitate easier processing during manufacturing, while others improve the final product's resistance to environmental conditions. Additives are typically used in the form of masterbatch, powder, or liquid, and they play a critical role in both cost optimization and performance enhancement in the plastics industry.
